Two English classics

Lightning F3 & the Jag-E
1964 BAC Lightning F3 Interceptor | British Aircraft Corporation | English Electric Lightning | Supersonic Jet Fighter of the RAF in the 1960s
1965 Jaguar E-Type | Jaguar XK-E | Series 1 | Convertible OTS | Open Two Seater | 3.8L XK Straight 6 265hp | Top Speed 240 kph 149 mph | English Sports Car manufactured in different styles and layouts between 1961 - 1975
In my youth I knew a chick that drove her dad's E-type.  She was always calling from somewhere out on the road for help, which I never failed to provide  ;-) , but in spite of it's unreliability, that E-Type was one beautiful car.

  1. The E Type was every boy's fantasy despite its flawed electrical system. I don't know of young men who fantasized about the F-3 Lightning. It looked way too much like a Mig 21 for my young tastes.

  2. Lucas electrics, .meh. As the saying goes: "The British drink warm beer because Lucas make refridgerators.

  3. I restore E types, and other interesting English cars. I search the world for NOS lucas parts because , despite the reputation, they are worlds better than modern production stuff. Most of the problem with all British cars is unskilled mechanics trying to fix things they didn't understand. The reality is they are simple, and easy to fix, but they ARE different than similar era domestic cars...And if you really want a thrill, almost all airliners built today use a LOT of Lucas made parts.

  4. Ah, Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. A friend of mine in San Diego has 5 or 6 old Jags that he has taken down to bare metal and restored. They are wonderful cars but that still didn't stop the occasional call from him asking for me to come to his breakdown site with some baling wire. Things just fall off.
