This Sunday the two younger kids and I drove out to the American River behind Auburn to do some photography. It was a peerless spring day in Central California.
The 17 year old got his hands on a new
"drop 8" neutral density filter, which allows long exposures in broad daylight. He was jonesing to try it out, so it was off to this spot for a test.
The American River, with the Highway 49 bridge. In the 80's there was a flood that put water well over the top of that bridge.
He paid for his camera out of his own money, so I said nothing when he splashed right out into the drink to set up. I guess you could chalk this up to the impetuousness of youth. I could see that it got real deep just behind him, but he managed to stay on his feet and keep his gear dry.
The results are very dreamlike.
In color
Very good. In these instances, I preferred the colour.
ReplyDeleteMe too, although that image of the gravely bar is growing on me.
