For some unusual Saturday entertainment, a visit was made to a local raptor center, where this golden eagle was on display.  Up close, it was an impressive, quite large bird.


Below is a cute little owl with feathery ears that was brought out to look us over.


A very common bird around here is a red tailed hawk.  Once, I counted 45 of them on the way to work, an average of one a mile.  This one is a very similar bird, a falcon.  This one looks like it would love to make a meal of your innards!  It takes a two year apprenticeship to officially become a falconer, so a person must really be dedicated to become one.  

An interesting way to spend a Sunday afternoon, no doubt.
