These two were bored this afternoon.  It was a warm summer evening, and the daughters asked to go up to a nearby gold rush town not too far from our house known as Sutter Creek.  As we were indeed free today, we loaded up the car and set forth.

Shortly were were there, and were enjoying the Victorian architecture, the touristy shops, and the general atmosphere. If you can find the time to notice, there are all sorts of interesting details in these little towns.

This below is a picturesque corner at Highway 49 and Keyes Street.

Knight Foundry was a gold rush born business that created much of the mining machinery that the miners needed to dig out the gold.  Their most useful item was the Pelton wheel, which was used to transform water power to electrical energy.  The foundry actually survived as a going business until the nineteen nineties, and even today is a very interesting tourist attraction, well worth the time to stop and visit.

Windows and reflections on Main Street.

The modest little city hall in Sutter Creek, with the bell tower out front.

All and all, a fun afternoon with the two girls.
