Well, it was a great Christmas Eve here at the homestead.  Like last year, we did a Swedish Julbord (a smorgasbord, but at Christmas), that had all the tastiest goodies we could gather together. There's that Shepherd's bread, some Martinelli's, and one of the bottles of home made wine the neighbor dropped off. There is a blue glass full of pomegranate juice we squeezed laboriously from the mangy tree in the backyard.  Even some pickled herring made an appearance, and contrary to reputation, it's actually pretty good stuff. The youngest daughter made a cheesecake for dessert.  Lots of variety seems to work.

Now, the farm wife and the girls are watching an Abbott and Costello on the TV, and the dogs and cat are lounging around the front room, as if they are exhausted from their big day of lounging around.

Tonight, life is good, and merry Christmas to everyone.
