Fun with kids

Good grief - just get in the car and run over it.

Gator is good eatin!

Abuse of the drunken/exhausted is not a pretty sight.

It's a funny sight.

With an approximately 27 million dollar deficit staring them straight in the face, the Democratic National Convention has decided to cancel their kickoff event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

Somehow, Nascar just doesn't seem to be the sort of sport that I imagine the Democrats would enjoy.  They would have to rub shoulders with the common folk, eat greasy comfort food, and smell high octane fuel and burning rubber.

Perhaps white wine and violins back in town would be more appropriate.

It is also surprising that at this time they are so fearfully short of cash.  Once again, the blue state management style has had it's expected result.  The more things change, the more they stay the same.  Next time, they should have the convention in Detroit, their spiritual home.

Protest signs gone wrong.

  • Pythagoras' theorem – 24 words.
  • Lord's Prayer – 66 words.
  • Archimedes' Principle – 67 words.
  • 10 Commandments – 179 words.
  • Gettysburg address – 286 words.
  • US Declaration of Independence – 1,300 words.
  • US Constitution with all 27 Amendments – 7,818 words.
  • EU regulations on the sale of cabbage – 26,911 words.
An illustration both of why the EU is doomed, and also why bureaucrats will always run amok without the strictest of limitations on their room to maneuver.

Just in time for the beginning of the workweek, a bit of Monday

Cabin porn!

Mondays, they're like that.

Besides, it reeks of desperation and bad judgement.

Next in line will probably be something like this, an organ donation registry. The local PBS station here in Sacramento already sees nothing wrong with advertising to get people to will their estates to the TV station, so is an organ donation registry really that much of a stretch for the liberals that run our government?

Cool descriptive video of how the next Mars rover will land.

After reading some recipes on the Rogue Dutch Oven Cookers, I saw one in particular that appealed to me, called Juanita's Baked Beans.  I have time to mess with the dutch oven over the weekend, so this evening I made an effort to whip some up.  Here, all the ingredients are collected together, and the bacon is on and cooking.

Rummaging through the cupboards, I found a bottle of this with just a bit left.  I threw it in for good measure, even though it wasn't in the recipe.

Below is the concoction on the coals.  I put a few extra coals on the lid and covered it, letting it simmer away for a little over an hour.

The final product.  Add in some cornbread, steamed beets and greens, and you have a real meal! Yet another great recipe from the many great dutch oven websites on the internet.  Bon appetite!
