This is James Hansen, a former NASA scientist and one of the biggest and most dishonest proponents of the idea of catastrophic global warming.

Here he is in an article proposing some sort of moral imperative.

"Averting the worst consequences of human-induced climate change is a "great moral issue" on a par with slavery, according to the leading Nasa climate scientist Prof Jim Hansen."

So, if I understand Hansen correctly, to question the existence of global warming - to be skeptical of his claims - is to be the same as being a racist slave owner.  The same as if you were to clap someone in irons and sell them as chattel on the open market.  The same as if you supported sending those human chattel into the fields day after day to slave for nothing!

If that is true, then wouldn't the global warming believers be justified in doing almost anything to stop those evil deniers?  It is the same as slavery, after all!

This intemperate language by Mr. Hansen is in fact an effort to "prepare the battlefield" for the next, more coercive stage, where the believers force the non believer slavers to toe their line, using presumably the full force of government power.  Exactly how, we will certainly get to find out, but in the end, for people like Hansen, it isn't really about global warming, which I can assure you he doesn't believe in deep in his heart.

Instead, it is about power and money, and how much of both that can be extorted out of everyone else.

In fact, we non believers are NOT the moral equivalent of slave owners, as asserted by Mr Hansen.    Mr. Hansen and his ilk are instead the moral equivalent of pirates (and not in the good, Walt Disney approved way!).

And pirates, consistent with the law of the sea, are treated accordingly!  Play with fire, Mr. Hansen, and risk getting burned!

Update!  If, God forbid, Hansen and Norgaard were to mate and have a child, this is what the beast would look like!

Ugh! An ice pick to the brain indeed!

Snort!

One of our cats was tragically introduced to a Michelin radial a couple of weeks ago, so I'm jonesing for a new mouser.

The local pound put up this stray for adoption, and if nobody else gets him, I might just break down and adopt.  Over at the pound they think he is either a Maine Coon or a Norwegian Forest Cat.  He looks to be big enough to hold his own with the dogs.

I like.

Dehydrated water...kinda... no, exactly like green energy.

No matter what happens, there will always be freckles, and that is good.

This article over at Zero Hedge reports that the Egan Jones rating agency has downgraded the United States credit rating once again.

Now Egan Jones is not a giant in the world of credit rating, but the article properly points out that Standard and Poors stated back in February that they could downgrade again in six months if the country didn't at least get a budget in place for the government.

Not only have the Democrats in the Senate resisted actively any effort to get a budget in place, but the country is on track to breach the deficit ceiling again in September.  Obama's budget proposal was so bad that for the second time in his term as President, it was voted down unanimously.  This sort of needless political irresponsibility by the Democrats makes another downgrade nearly certain.

Knowing all this, address your financial investments accordingly.
Hey hey, it's happy pup Friday!

A recent Gallup poll shows a huge split between blacks and non blacks on the question of what happened in the Trayvon Martin killing.

The poll itself is here.

72 percent of blacks polled think that Zimmerman was guilty of a racially based murder, or probably was guilty, versus non blacks, of whom only 32% hold that view.

This dichotomy between blacks and everyone else on the question of crime is nothing new.  Remember this iconic photo of the different reaction people had to the verdict in the O J Simpson murder trial?

All the blacks are whoop whooping in celebration that the murderer O J got the better of "The Man", while everyone else is stunned by the obvious miscarriage of justice.

It is the exact same situation now.  I believe it derives from the unique experience of blacks; from their view of discrimination and prejudice against them.

Further, in their tight and close community, there is, I believe, enormous pressure internally to conform in their thinking.  A guy like Don Cheadle, who looks at the case more like everyone else, will get the cold shoulder from his peers, and will likely hear that he is an Uncle Tom or an Oreo.

In a larger sense, this attitude among blacks suggests that they do not, as a whole, believe that justice for them is possible in the United States, and that the entire system is stacked against them.  If looked at in that way, it explains a lot about their tendency to nullify jurys, and to dismiss the giant incarceration rate among black men as no big problem for their community.

Further, it helps to explain the fact that they see government as a way to profit from or even loot society through transfer payments like welfare.  That may be one big reason that blacks vote so monolithically for Democrats than for the Republicans, who idealistically did so much more for them through the decades up to the 60's than Democrats, who instead cynically try only to make them wards of the state.

That's why you get people who say things like this, which looks stunningly stupid and ignorant to everyone non black, but which undoubtably is a widely held view among black Americans, and may well make sense to someone holding this type of world view.

What this means to our society in general is very bad.  When you have a significant proportion of the population that thinks they are very unlikely to be treated properly in the legal system, who believe that the government offers them nothing but a chance to grab some money, and who listen with belief to the message of victimhood from the Democrats and their very own black leaders ( think Reverends Wright, Sharpton and Jackson), you have a toxic, simmering stew that can only make the general society ill.

Unfortunately, I can see no solution to this situation that doesn't require decades of re education and leadership from both black society and at the national level. There has certainly been no progress whatsoever since the OJ trial.  Right now, there is no sign of this even beginning to happen.

Just too cool.

Does this in turn prove that trailer parks also must exist on the Red Planet?

Steve McQueen "Bullitt" chase scene classic, with a 68 Charger and a 68 Mustang GT.  Never hurts to watch this now and then.

Now this is the kind of thing Breitbart would be proud of.  Grass roots political speech, at the grass roots.

To the grass roots.

Something Demostooges can only dream about.

Here is what is in store for us right here at home if Obamacare isn't somehow removed.

"An elderly woman was ordered to find a new doctor because the "carbon footprint" of her two mile round trips to the surgery where she had been treated for 30 years was too large."

The government healthcare system wrote to Ms Mulcahy, telling her to find a new doctor within 28 days.

The woman in question is 83.  I bet she can remember when doctors weren't government bureaucrats.  When they were trusted members of the community whose job was to help their neighbors and fellow citizens.

However, we cannot really be surprised at this, as it is the natural result of the socialization of medicine.  Your doctor turns into the woman behind the counter at the DMV.  Take a number.   Get to the back of the line.  Wait.  Except in this case it is actual physical pain that is inflicted.

In the end, the socialist doctor or nurse will be the one to toss you to the curb to die because you are too old, or disabled, or in some other way distasteful to the state.

Or, like here, they will make an 83 year old woman jump through their hoops in service to a discredited, unscientific theory, just because they can.
So much for the global warming hysteria about drowning polar bears.

Looks like they are thriving.  The one below is enjoying a nice al fresco lunch of fresh seal blubber.

So why in California are we still implementing a business killing cap and trade tax?  If only we could feed Jerry Brown and his Demostooges to the bears, at least they would be used for something productive and non destructive.

Ha. Pissed off cats make me laugh.
