  4. Paul Newman applesauce.

Wondering, who’s the Paul Newman/Brad Pitt of today’s younger generations?

  6. I think we may be focusing on the wrong thing. It's not that they haven't learned, it's that they CAN'T learn. To paraphrase for an artist, you can't concentrate on where the paint goes if paint is falling on you from the sky. We are all absolutely drowning in information. We don't have time to figure out which of it matters.

    1. This actually needs to end "then I spent the next 2 hours hooking up my old VCR to the digital TV so I could force her to watch my old tape of 'Slap Shot"

    2. My choice of Paul Newman greats would be 'Hombre'. If that didn't show the man's daughter what a classic heartthrob stud was, nothing would.

  7. When he was running his Datsun in SCCA he would come to Thursday practice up at the original Loudon NH road course, decent driver, but holy moly, he was a nasty hateful arrogant butthole, and it was strictly fun, polite, a family affair at Loudon back then, everyone got along great, except that guy. His crew would arrive first thing, unload a hundred empty 55 gal drums, roll them in a huge square, tape it off with police cordon tape, his goons would run down even little kids who crossed under it to get to the bathroom.

  8. Um, I always found him to be a Gentleman. I gave him some enlargements of Pics I shot at BIR in '83. Saw him the next year and he told me that his Pretty Wife liked them so much she had them framed and put in the den. He autographed my copies of said pics. Still have them, about 12 feet from me in the man-cave. The thing is I gave him an enlargement of a pic I took the year before. He looked at it and tears formed in his eyes and he got a little vonklempt. What I didn't know was that his chief mechanic of many years was standing behind him and had just passed from an aggressive cancer.

I'd see him at BIR and RA the next few years and when he saw me (I was a SCCA paddock marshal) he'd give me the Sting nose rub and a nod of the head. Newman Hass team would also feed me at the races. Like I said a Gentleman.
