And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Video games such as DCS tend to depict highly repetitive and predictable damage patterns. This does not reflect real-world combat damage, although the A-10 is THE exception and can withstand this level of punishment, or more...
Pretty sure it's AI. The flaps have damage that would have damaged the upper wing surface in normal flight configuration. The wing has damage without corresponding damage to the flap. No ladder door or ladder. If the door had departed in flight, the ladder would have kicked out of the well (it's spring loaded to do that) and part of it would still be hanging there. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty certain all of them lost the European 1 green paint scheme and were painted mid air collision gray in the early 90's before the GPS mod (the big flat antenna on top) was added, so it wouldn't be a C model in that color scheme. I was an A-10 crew chief at Nellis when that modification was started in 94/95.
Were you there (if it was Nellis...1994 was a long time ago) when the A-10 pilot fucked up and dropped on the GLD and its operator and his squad, instead of on the target vehicle? My girlfriend, at the time, was on the groundcrew for that A-10.
And the pilot is sitting in a tub of titanium armor.
ReplyDeleteThe A-10 also has plot armor for the pilot.
ReplyDeleteWould love to hear the story behind this one. Taking fire from above ? Maybe inverted???
ReplyDeleteAre the canopies capable of taking heavy machine gun or AA hits? Canopy is in excellent shape.
