  1. Now I know why the western border of Texas is shaped as it is...its for a legend.

    Also, as big as those ranches are, the size of Texas makes them look miniscule.

  2. That shaded area in the Northwest of the panhandle is the three million acre XIT Ranch, granted to a group in exchange for constructing the Texas state capitol building that is still in use today. It's a fascinating story and a great read.

  3. The King Ranch corporation also has vast land holdings in Brazil and developed the Santa Gertrudis cattle which is excellent for warm subtropical climates.

  4. Ha ha, the biggest cattle station in Australia is 5,800,000. Some of our back yards are bigger than Texas ranches.

  5. If you have $ 79 million sitting around you can buy the 916,000 acre Pathfinder Ranch in Wyoming. It's larger than Rhode Island.
