Residential Building X1, Cologne Hahnwald, Germany, Peter Neufert's private residence, built between 1959 and 1962.

The roof shell of the residential building spans the rooms without supports. Sound and heat insulation by Heraklith boards and glass wool are mounted under plasterboard

A carport leads into the facade of red cubes which serve as balconies and cupboards. The garden facade is glazed. A basalt stone wall separates the large living room with fireplace from the house bar. The entrance with access to the kitchen, wardrobe and guest toilet is separated from the living room by a blue sliding glass door.

  2. If they have to tell you it’s a “residential building” it’s because it certainly doesn’t look or feel residential. If it could speak, it would say it “identifies as residential”.

  3. Most people have fixed ideas on what a home should look like, based on emotion rather than logic.

    Found it!

  4. Absolutely hideous...
So called "influencers, of any era, rarely have good taste...
They just try to be different than the heard, and in doing so, reveal they really don't have much to offer anyway...
Always trust your own instincts... not others...
separate yourself from the, "heard mentality"

  6. The roof is like those airport warehouses.

  7. In my younger days I was a roofing contractor. I always look at buildings from the perspective of putting a roof on it. Hard pass here.

  8. I want to see the full floorplan and site orientation. If those huge windows are facing south they will get a ton of solar heating even in the winter and there looks to be enough overhang to block the worst of the summer sun.
