And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

One of five seismometers around Mt. Shasta this morning, measuring 24 hours of bumps and thumps, produced this seismogram.
The entire Pacific "Ring of Fire" has been acting up lately. I read recently where there were almost 700 earthquakes of 4.0 magnitude or better in a very short period of time.
I was at Cal Tech in the seismograph room. Just then a 3.4 Richter for the area was recorded. The Director said, Oh, that's just a dump truck rumbling by. The university was having site work for a new building.
If the volcano's a-rockin'...

ReplyDeleteLooking at the bright side, if Shasta does blow CW will have a great view of it.
ReplyDeleteI'll report here until the very end. Mrs. CW will be long gone southward by then.
DeleteWe're counting on you!
DeleteYou gonna be like Charlie Frost in 2012 broadcasting from the rim? ;-))

I'm about sixty air miles away. I'll probably be fine. Probably.
DeleteWhy does the USGS website show absolutely nothing for the Shasta area? And I have it set to show ALL magnitudes. Some 0.1 showing elsewhere.

DeleteUSGS reported a 5.9 quake near Dayton, Nevada a couple of weeks ago and almost immediately said "Ooops. False alarm. Sorry about that."
DeleteWell, their earthquake map shows NOTHING. And currently that link is timing out.

I would check for avalanches coinciding with seismograph recordings.
ReplyDeleteIt’s not nice to question Madam Pele 🌋🗿
ReplyDeleteCorrelation between solar flares and volcanic activity, lot of flares lately, some large ones too.
