On my bucket list is to go to Germany or Switzerland and spend a week somewhere, and visit a Christmas market. Gotta say, from what I've seen, they do it right.

  1. Better visit soon before they all get canceled because of ...ah....certain......"types"

    1. My first thoughts EXACTLY. That travel guy on PBS, Rick Steves, did a special all about Christmas celebrations all over Europe. I still watch it, but now with great sadness of all the wonderful things one certain religious group has DESTROYED, and the worthless government officials who have enabled and even welcomed the destruction/destroyers.

    2. Hungary is advertising their Christmas travel experience by pointing out that they are happily paying fines to the EU for refusing to allow wholesale unfettered immigration.

  4. First things, you need a country which has avoided unrestricted alien invasion. Reason: too many terrorist related events during Christmas celebrations. Or they have spectacular anti-terror forces protecting the citizenry.
    Its a very short list.
Wisdom: remember the axiom by that wise old man who suggested staying away from crowds was a life extension strategy.
Besides. No place like home. Nothing like kith and kin. Christ and his Father don't care where us mortals celebrate his birth into this mortal plane.

  5. Did Heidelberg a few years ago while my daughter was in grad school there. Walking about the town on Christmas morning with the falling snow and singing coming from the churches was unforgettable.
