And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
for my nickel, '69 Z-28 is #1 on Chebies GOAT list. '62 Impala & "bubble top, '65 Malibu round it out. Forget the year but one of the last Impala SS - all black, silver or white - was an outstanding road car. Sadly, somewhere on the road Chebies became GM's afterthought.
In '69 I was 17. Got my first look at one of those that was sitting in a carwash. It may not look like it now, but at that time the styling was so different it snatched your eyes right out of your head.

ReplyDeleteSadly, somewhere on the road Chebies became GM's afterthought.
69 SS was the best of ALL of them, hands down.
ReplyDeleteI had a 70 SS and there was no comparison.
I had one back in the day.
ReplyDeleteMy 69 got away because we were having a baby. I'm sure this was quite common.
ReplyDeleteCousin sold his Z28 for the same reason. Life choices and sacrifices for things that mean more than a car. At least you got to enjoy it.
DeleteIt's a little weird that no one is looking at that beautiful machine.
ReplyDeleteActually a fitting color scheme.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't look that pretty back in '69.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Graduated HS in ‘69 driving an old ‘65 Mustang. Got a 914 in college then a 911. Never looked back on Detroit iron.
Deleteneighbor had a 914/6. Pleasant music on a cold winter morning was listening to that thing start as 6-cyl. warmed up and got in sync.
