No, but at the bottom of the windshield there's a large vent that rises up to provide fresh air. I learned to drive in a 5 window with the vacuum operated windshield wipers. Al_in_Ottawa
I had the GMC extended Van, they came with a 235 and later with the 261 (bored out 235). Had the engine rebuild along the way. Vacuum wipers, 4 speed with a 'creeper' 1st gear (useless), and a really poor rear end gear ratio for highway speeds (engine screamed at 55mph). After changing out the rear end to a lower ratio, it was great on the highway, easily got 16-18mpg.
Those are not the original 17" split rims, we had on the 1.5 ton van, which also had inner tubes. The "live rubber" tube was so good, we still had the original tubes 40+ years later.
Turned it into a custom van, spend my wedding night & honeymoon (3 months of travel), living in it... it was fully outfitted, we loved it.
I worked on EVERYTHING over that beast - wish I had one again.
"51" was the only year with both Vent Windows and Pull Down Handles. "52" had push button handles. This one likely had the vent window removed during restoration
had one, no bed, extra-leaved springs, half a Miller High Life can gas cap. drove it on someone else's plates and never saw a title. left it in Lake Station, Indiana c.1978.
Had a '52 5 window that I drove every day for about ten or twelve years. Wish I had it again. Hard years, but great times. People loved that truck no matter where you went. You were automaticly accepted as a nice guy.
