And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
There use to be an air field at Bailey's Cross Roads, Fairfax Co., Virginia. Closed when I was in high school. I remember seeing an aircraft with Invasion Stripes. It was NOT a war bird. But the owner/pilot was a WWII vet and wanted people to know it.
I am guessing a WW-2 bombing mission...

ReplyDeleteThe paint scheme was used on D-Day to identify friendly planes for allies. Hopefully they would not be shot at by friendly fire.
