And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Absolutely worth the trip. It's a delightful village, with a beautiful cathedral. Lots of unique architecture. Friendly people. Bring money -- partly to buy souvenirs, partly to support the local economy, because they keep it so nice. -- Davis.P
I was there a few years ago and yes, it's well worth a visit. Go off season when the mass tourism (bus tourists) aren't there for a much more enjoyable visit.
Visited summer 1979. Magic place although the tide was out and I walked way out onto the sand. The tidal water moves pretty quickly apparently but I never got wet feet.
I have bad legs. I would never want to go there.
ReplyDeleteI've got one bad leg.

Mont San Michelle, France. Massive tides play havoc with access.
ReplyDeleteWas there in May. It is wonderful. They have built a causeway, so tides are no longer a factor with the access. Would definitely go there again.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they are keeping the arsonist Muslims away from this one...

ReplyDeleteJust a BIT unnerving when the tide comes in.

ReplyDeleteI've wanted to visit since I saw the movie, "Mindwalk," with Sam Waterston and Liv Ullman. Haven't made it there yet, unfortunately.
