McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II

I wonder how many of these birds are still flying?

  1. Not many in the US, but several other air forces still use them. Over 5000 built.

  3. I worked on this A/C for most of my Navy Career. It's like an old friend that was sometimes real bitchy. Also, worked on F-8, A-6, and F-14. All gone from active service now. It doesn't seem that long ago, but I've been retired 31 years on 5/31/2016. Sigh.... Where did it go.

  5. I remember when the Marines at Cherry Point first got their F-18s....they had the F-4s mothballed with canopy covers and air-conditioners, maintained flight worthy....I don't think upper command knew they had 'em....seemed they had those things for years....but then again, maybe I was dreaming...
