The difference between an Alligator Snapping Turtle and a Common Snapping Turtle

One can take off a finger, the other will get your whole hand.

  1. Their was a college kid doing a study on turtle movement patterns so she tagged some with GPS. We used to grab one and take it for a ride around the swamp or put it in the work truck and haul it around all day then put it back. Don't know if that girl ever finished her study but we had a blast.

  2. That's a lot like the difference between "Aliens" in the movie - the difference between dogs and wolves.

  3. I had an encounter with an alligator snapping turtle when I was about 5 years old in Mt pleasant, Mississippi. Dad and I were fishing, he had left me alone to go untie a boat. The turtle was as big as I was and may as well have been godzila. I thought I was doomed and was my first taste of true terror being charged by that thing. Dad broke a boat paddle killing it. I wasn't bitten but remain hateful of those critters today.
