Things I'm liking right now.

Captain Original makes the same arguments, in nearly the same words, in this SOTU as he did last year.  A lack of imagination, and a contempt for the intelligence of the American people, is clearly on display here.

I guess empty platitudes, smoothly articulated, bamboozled the American electorate before, so why not keep it up?

My reaction to Obama in particular, and all his empty rhetoric:

It appears that the poor health of one of the hostages motivated this rescue mission.

Both the American, Jessica Buchanan, and the Dane, Poul Thisted, were kidnapped by the Somalian gang while working on a project to remove old military mines from a nearby area of this African country.

My question is, what the heck are they doing in Somalia, given the lawless condition of the country? Having made the incredibly foolish decision to place themselves in harms way by going there, especially for this reason, why is the American military obliged to risk life and treasure to rescue these well meaning but criminally foolish people when the inevitable happens?  Let the stupid Somalis remove their own mines.

On the positive side, all nine Somali hostage takers that the special forces encountered were killed.

Below, the rescued but morally retarded do gooders.

Holy mother of Obama, this is pure food genius!  I am going to try this out on the kids next weekend.  It will be legendary.

Looks like the leader of the free world, Captain Fantabulous, has just been upstaged by one of those greedy, evil Republicans.

Mitt Romney's tax return, just now released, shows that he gave 15% of his income to charity, while our famous Captain offered up a paltry 1%

So, one might wonder which charity Obama donated to?  The Black Panthers, perhaps?  Or Acorn?  We will probably find out in the next week or so.

Meanwhile, that grasping Republican Romney continues to earn money the honest, old fashioned way, and pass a nice chunk on to fellow Americans who might need it more than he does.

Which one would you rather have lead our nation for the next four years?
If this doesn't put a smile on your face, well, you need a good dose of shock therapy.

Thanks to the Feral Irishman for this great vid.

The Anchoress nails the reasons the Main Stream Media can't address the truth anymore. From the article:

"Someone asked me on Twitter, “why don’t they just report the truth” and I thought, “because they have given themselves wholly over to a lie, and they fear the truth. Having built up the lie for so long that it’s become their foundation, they know they cannot withstand an assault by the truth.”

So they have become truth-phobics, our mainstream media. They can’t tell you the truth about anything, anymore — they can only do whatever it takes to sustain the narratives they’ve constructed."

Go thee and read it all.
Yogi soon learned that he could get the campers to give him food easily if he simply sat down and asked politely.

Ok now, that is the kind of snow we need to see in the Sierras.  Still, a week of sunny weather would make a significant dent in the pack, such as it is, so more storms, please.  Alaska has had enough of our winter weather, and they need to share a bit of it with us here down south.

What, it's only Tuesday!!

I still can't believe the California electorate hired the guy in the middle to be their governator, but then they followed that up with hyper liberal retread Jerry Brown, who was in fact the politicial genius who started off the financial crisis here by allowing public workers to unionize and then lobby.

I see a statewide Detroitization of California if people don't wise up.

A few nostalgic (for me) rock climbing pictures this evening.   Best I ever managed was a 5.10b face climb.  Pretty fun stuff though, combining intense physical effort with concentration and imagination. Maybe there will be a little time for some easy bouldering this summer.....

Ha hahahahahahaha!  I could not stop laughing at this, which tells you all you need to know about the maturity level of my sense of humor.

An awesome skill to have, useful in so many situations.

A Georgia state judge has ordered President Obama to appear in his court to answer a complaint that Obama is not a natural born citizen and cannot be president.  The hearing is on January 26th, and if you want, you can watch the festivities live here.

Obama might be getting just a bit overconfident on this issue.  So far he has convinced the majority of people that to question all the things he is hiding is only for kooks and tin foil hat wearers, but that might change. Never has a president ever spent so much money and gone to such lengths to hide his background.

It is never a good idea to ignore a court order, and if it costs him the ability to get on the ballot in Georgia, that is bad.

What would be worse for him would be for a majority of people to wonder why he didn't deal with this like everyone else would have to, and avoid all the trouble, if he didn't have anything to hide.

We shall see if anything comes of this, but either way, it should be fun to watch develop.

Tar oozes out of the ground in Carpinteria California.   It's usually a good sign when it just runs out of the ground, like it did for old Jed Clampett.
