A fun visit to a straight razor factory in Portland
Also known as the Portland Shave Shop, it's located in an unassuming building in a quiet neighborhood. We had to call to make sure we were at the right place.
Once inside, all six of us were the only customers there at that time, and the fellow holding down their nice little shop suddenly had a very attentive audience.
So, the entertainment began! First, Our guide Hunter gave a demonstration on how to whip up some fantastic shaving cream. Looked good enough to eat.
Then, he offered us a factory tour. They make their own razors and strops right there. They have the razors cut out of a sheet of steel by water jet. Not much waste there!
The factory was surprisingly compact.

Or fairly basic.
High quality either way. It was great to see a small set up like this hand making an excellent tool right here in the rainy Pacific Northwest.

I've never seen anyone fall from hip dude to schmuck as fast as The Zuck. Sort of sobering.
