  1. Tells you how much intrinsic value they have stolen from our base currencies, that they could in those days run such complex advanced machines, make a profit, and one could fly on them for reasonable money.

    1. Those are military aircraft, operated and funded by the British government, which was nearly bankrupted by WWII.

  3. These were U-boat killers. WWII was in full swing.

  4. But you're right, they were operated commercially too. Although the flights were very expensive, the Concord of the day.

  5. When you adjust those prices for inflation, to compare them to what it would cost today, they are not that affordable.
