  1. Porsche 917-30 I think. A 1,000hp monster made for the Canam championship.

  4. Why isn't the driver centered? Are there plans to add a passenger seat or does it have to do with weight distribution to counteract torque??

    1. Can Am and sports car racing rules generally require a second seat or ability to fit one. McLaren F1 that won Le Mans was a three seat layout, with the driver front and center and passenger seats behind.

  6. I’m not sure that’s a 917- maybe a late 910. Flat 8 ( not the 12 of the 917s) but with turbos. I think they were NA when first released, like the 908s.

  7. Nice crumple zone in front of the engine. Surrounded by high octane fuel, flimsy frame tubes, sitting in front of a big ass motor, one has to have a serious lack of imagination to get in and drive.

P.S. "Pete, do you sometimes get tired, tired of the driving?" Jean Pierre Sarte.

  8. I believe that’s the 917-30 that Penske & Donohue ended the series with…it also set an as yet unbroken speed record at Talladega…

  9. air cooled 5.4-liter twin-turbocharged flat-12 engine with a prominent horizontal cooling fan, capable of producing over 1,100 to 1,500 horsepower depending on boost settings. very cool
