Wasting Fuel - unless you like sound and noise, in which case it is well used.
After a night at the drags, usually in the pits, brother and me would go lie in the grass at the end of the runway for some R&R feeling the F-4s take off in full burner. El Toro MCAS
Maybe it was during the spin up of the tires to get the rubber soft. Don't know, got to go to an event in Northern Cali years ago, most amazing thing was watching the Crew rebuild after every run.
