The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? It's a Gibson Les Paul with a tiger stripey maple top. Probably a custom shop creation as I see no screw holes for the pick guard. The gouges and wear on that top are probably too deep to be repaired. But yeah, if I bought that I'd do a ground up restoration to it.
Yes, the mismatched knobs and reversed neck pickup give it away. Note the pick guard screw hole on the cutaway side of the neck. Probably one of the $50,000 Custom Shop remakes, instead of (now) Kirk Hammett’s original…
Randy Bachman is selling 200+ guitars at auction. Including the "American Woman" guitar. Saw the Guess Who in Nov. 2001. Opened for Joe Cocker at th AA Center in Dallas. Ended up backstage and in a really nice suite. Pretty Cool.
If that's the real thing the last thing you want to do is a "ground up restoration", that would considerably diminish the value. More than likely it's custom shop reissue.
It's either "Greenie" or an indistinguishable copy. The wrap over string set up makes me suspicious, I'm not sure Kirk Hammett, the current owner does that. Even the cracks in the pickup covers match the original. Guitar was owned by Peter Greene, Gary Moore and now Kirk Hammett.
What's great is that Kick actually plays Greenie at concerts. The Peter Greene tribute show where he does Green Manalishi is awesome (tiny bit over the top towards the end of the solo but still....).
