And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Prissy, yes. Pansies, no. A neighbor when I was growing up said he had been on leave in London in WWII. He and some buddies entered a pub where some Highland regiment soldiers were drinking. One of my neighbor’s drunken friends walked up to the Scot at the bar, asked what was under his kilt and proceeded to lift it. The neighbor said his friend got his ass royally kicked. There’s a reason the Germans called the Black Watch the Ladies from Hell.
The ancient Scots were such fierce warriors that Roman Emperor Hadrian built a wall to keep them out. Look at the battle records of the Highland regiments at The Plains of Abraham, Waterloo and the "thin red line" in the Crimean War. Al_in_Ottawa
