And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Western civilizations have advanced beyond the brutality of the most fit humans procreating while the least fit do not. Now our government and others make it easy for the least fit to have children and raise them on government handouts while making it economically difficult for the most fit to afford having children.
Western civilizations have moved beyond the brutal dominance of the strongest, smartest and most fit while the least fit are less able to reproduce and raise children. Now, thanks to the welfare state and government handouts, the least fit can afford to have large numbers of children while government taxes and other policies make it difficult for the strongest, smartest and most fit to afford becoming parents and to raise children. That is why the idle welfare class is growing and the middle class is shrinking. Saint Thomas Aquinas once said that nothing is unintended by God. However today we know that nothing resulting from the policies of our federal government is unintended.
