And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Could have made this bench a thing of beauty and safety, should have poured resin in different colors or just one color to seal that opening. Give it an E for somewhat effort but a large F for failure to complete.
What a waste of skill and effort. If that had been done for the construction of a barn or other building for construction without nails I would have been impressed.

I suspect most here haven't worked wood, let alone wood that was hewn long before they were born.
The beauty is in the age of the wood, and wonder of the men who cut them and shaped them as structural timbers, using only cross-cut saws and adze axes.
Not to mention the skills to cut and fit so precisely those connecting "bowties" and choosing the right hardwood as to be strong enough to do the job as only that narrow bit is the strength of the union.
