  6. Please tell me you know where the one with the tunnels is! It perfectly matches a strong early childhood memory, somewhere crossing the mountains heading east out of California, maybe near Donner Pass.

    1. Google says it's the Olympic Peninsula Loop, Washington.

    2. Thanks, Elmo. That sounds right for that picture (I'd forgotten Google's image search feature). There are similar tunnels in CA in the Sierras.

    3. Especially on Highway 70 in the Feather River canyon. I love that drive.
The trains running down the canyon is a huge plus.

  10. Great pics as usual, sad though to see two girls in a row hoping that someone will come along with some gasoline.

  11. Reminds me of what crappy heaters the air-cooled Porsches had.
    But I can take it!

    1. right. That was the worst about those early Porsches, in sharp contrast to Dr Posche's other contribution to motoring, On those early VeeWees the heater was the best part. I've had the delight to drive an all in race prepared early SC. Customer's complaint was an occasional cutting out/miss. Took a bit to suss it out, then Oh My Goodness that thing went....... 7500 redline, right now.
