And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The absence of the hatches is why I think it's a SSGN rather than a SSBN. I see your point about the length but that might be a result of the low camera angle. An Ohio is the only US submarine I could think of with this casing and port stern fixture.
The hull extension is probably the housing for a towed array of hydrophones. Looks like a crossing the line ceremony with the newbies up on deck. Nice day, but a bit of a swell.
Looks like an Ohio SSGN boat.
ReplyDeleteLittle short for Ohio class, no missile hatches that i can see

DeleteThe Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740) blue crew.
DeleteMaybe the fisheye lens is making the hull look weird, but this does not look like a 100 yard hull...
DeleteThe diver doesn’t have a life vest on.
ReplyDeleteSome of them are blindfolded. Arrrgggg
ReplyDeleteIs that a clothesline on the mast between the flippers?
Question: Why is there an extension to the upper hull extending to the rudder area on the left side of the hull, but not on the right?
