And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I got my PSV licence (as it was then ) in 1979 with no skid pan. I qualified in skidding early one morning with a Bristol VR full of dockers on their way to work. There was black ice and I did a dramatic six wheel drift in front of Grimsby Town Hall. There was a huge cheer from the passengers and a quiet sigh of relief from me . . .
The skid pan is part of the driving test for bus drivers, it also allows new drivers to have confidence that the bus will not tip over.
