And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
And this looks like the mid-late 70s, when inflation was heading up to the moon and interest rates were heading towards 18% or more. Still WAY MORE prosperous than today, with most of what you are seeing NOT mired in mountainous debt.
I am from Los Angeles from the late 50s. California did not turn bad until Reagan left as Gov and there was mass amounts of people moved in the 70s. Many of the orange groves in the San Gabriel Valley were replaced by massive housing developments.

Yeah, I google-map looked for the right location, with just the Franklin street sign in the bottom right for reference. The white 4-story at right mid-distance is at the SW corner of Hollywood and Western, and still stands.

Ur right, that’s the Wiltern Theater on the left in the distance. I was in high school in WLA.
