And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My sainted father was a career US Air Force officer. One of his many assignments was Hickam Airforce Base in Honolulu in the late 1950's. We traveled over the Pali many times as we toured the island of Oahu. What a thrill...!!!
You're right, John, it is a thrill to see, and I was fortunate to see such sights many times when I was stationed at Pearl. I loved living in Hawaii, and couldn't understand why some people called living there living on "The Rock."
My dad was with Standard Oil and we were on Oahu 60-66, the Pali was some road in those days! I went back last year and I spent the $7.86 for parking to take in the view again...
One thing, worst thing about my photographs of waterfalls, they fail to convey UP, UP, UP.. Tony Fleming does it in Youtube on his voyages on Venture, but he is a genius.

ReplyDeleteAnd if you change the "t" to a "c", you have what Kamehameha's adversaries experienced after they lost the battle.
