And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I am not American, and I grew up with little American TV or Movie influence. And for me 'ass' is a donkey.
So can you tell me, did Americans sanitise the word 'arse' and made it 'ass' so they wouldn't shock anyone with their crass words ?
I think along those lines because; 1- A ass is a four legged equine creature and has little to do with someone's bottom, and 2 - A lot of foreign movies were banned from being shown in U.S. theatres because of their language ... normal and everyday language of people, but not allowed into American people's ears.
Being foreign (and probably would get thrown out of the USA by ICE even though I am White and well spoken) it does make me laugh when I hear someone called an ass ... I laugh because it is like a 6 year old calling his brother a donkey, hardly a cutting insult.
Should you Americans ever need a real insult, my lexicon of such is full to brimming, and I am happy to share ... just don't call me a cute as anything donkey.
rocket man seems to be a bit full of himself. yet another furriner trying to tell us americans what's wrong us. do the the letters F.O. mean anything to him ? ANON

I think we’ll be fine with our traditional language.
