  2. One of many sequels to the original "Tarzan of the Apes". Most are very good but toward the end some were "licensed" by the Burroughs estate after the authors death and were generally dreadful.

  3. I read some of the Tarzan novels back in the day. He was a cultured English gentleman running around Africa getting involved with strange civilizations, something similar to Rider Haggard novels. None of this Johnny Weissmuller stuff.

    1. P.S. 'Course I was in the East Point Theater whenever one of those Weissmuller Tarzan movies came out. Never appreciated the later one. My dad insisted that Buster Crabbe was the best.

    2. You might also like some of the R.E.H. Solomon Kane stories (but skip that horrible movie).

  4. Gordon Scott made an excellent Tarzan, I believe that one actor who played the villain was Sean Connery, pre-Bond.
    Scott played Tarzan six times.

  11. There were 42 Tarzan paperback published in one series back in the 1970's. I owned and read every one. Some of them were quite good. Some were not.
I wish the estate would reprint them.
