The nearly perfect cabin interior. Who needs a bed? I could see sleeping all night on one of those couches with the fire going.

  1. I could def work with that.
Add a golden retriever, a shotgun, a bottle of something stern, and a book by Lysander Spooner, and 4 cords of seasoned/split white oak.

  2. well, the fireplace looks great. but they really don't put out a lot of heat. might be better if you installed a good woodstove in the fireplace instead. yes. I know, it doesn't look at nice. I put 2 woodstoves in our cabin/house after getting it .
it is the main source of heat as the oil furance sucks big time !
with oil, it ran like every 20-30 minutes and was cold in spots of the house.
with the woodstove, once the house gets warm. it stays that way for hours.
a nice even warmth. only fire the up stairs stove when it gets below 20.
as the basement stove works very well most of the time keeping the place warm. keep the stove and pipes clean and it no problem. just bring in wood every 2-3 days is a PIA at times. but worth it overall .

  3. The sofa will be a convenient place to sleep, because you'll need to get up every couple of hours to stoke that fire. On the other hand, a nice air-tight cast iron wood stove will put out heat all night...

  4. Nice Persian rug. Have a couple similar that I got on deployments.

  5. Pretty, but impractical. Any heat that fireplace puts out will fill that huge space at the ceiling. The floor, and those couches, are gonna be cold. Woke to a balmy -38 this morning. It's finally winter as it should be up here.
