And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
sold my 1989 4runner a few years back. now I wish I never did that. should have sent to a good shop to be rebuilt instead as it was hands down better than anything they made in the last 20 years ! I never got "stuck" with it anywhere I took it. might have to put mud and snow chains on a few times, but it always came thru. even when there was 3.5 feet of snow on the roads. a really great truck. getting parts for the fiberglass top where a problem though.
Same here with my 1991 S10. 1st and last new ride. Bought it brand new for $8,888. Best thing I have ever bought, owned it for 32 years. I regret selling it. Should have paid someone to restore it. Ran excellent but had some rust.
#5 reminds me of the scariest road I ever drove - the Shelf Road between Cripple Creek and Cañon City, CO. I remember pulling over in one of the turnouts to let a pickup coming up from Cañon City pass. The driver pulled up next to me and we chatted for a couple of minutes. At one point, I asked him if he thought the car I was driving would make it to the bottom. He asked "Is that a rental?" I said yes, and he said, "Ya know the difference between a 4-wheel drive and a rental?" I said no, and he smiled and said, "You can take a rental anywhere" and drove on.
Very pretty. My dad, who was in the air force (not USA) and served in the Pacific. He said it is much harder to unstick when the water is calm. During WW2 the local Catalinas would taxi in big circles to make ripples to help take off if it was flat calm.
yeah, rust. had to find a body shop that does sheet metal these days. most want to fiberglass over any rust. a repair that will last 2-4 years at BEST. and the local tech school has a waiting list of 3 years or so I was told. and they seem to only do muscle cars ?
I liked the one with the dog (pup)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the SUV dunking his head in that. Thanks for your fine blog and this regular feature of scenic images.
