  1. I would think abrasion more a problem than erosion. Since its hollow blades they're featuring, do they mean something akin to crevice corrosion?

  2. Probably unrelated, but it says, "Curtiss Electric Propellers". Wikipedia states that the electric motors alter the pitch of the propellers.

  3. I think they mean water spray eroding the propeller. Although I don't know how a hollow blade prevents that.

  4. Maybe the alternative to solid aluminum blades? Harder steel to resist abrasion/erosion, but hollow to lessen the weight. I've never flown behind a wooden prop, but I've been told it's bad to fly them in the rain. Some wooden props have metal covers over the leading edges of the prop, held on with flush rivets.
