And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The photo isn't reversed, you can see the cockpit door on the Spit and the prop blades are angled the right way. There is no law in Britain against owning a left hand drive car. The Spitfire is a Mk IX painted to resemble JEJ, flown by Johnnie E Johnson, Britain's highest scoring ace, who was transferred to the RCAF, hence the Maple Leaf insignia. Al_in_Ottawa
I'd take either one, sell it and buy one of those high performance, bush hopper, hillside landing, STOL birds...and a motorcycle...and a 60's or 70's short bed F-100...and...HEY, that Spitfire and Ferrari(?) are EXPENSIVE, there will be plenty of "play" money.
Reminds me of that Dukakis tank picture.
ReplyDeleteHe took a duck to the face at 200 knots.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a Supermarine Spitfire and a Ferrari Monza SP2 - play toys from different generations...
ReplyDeleteI guess maybe he's really into impressing others, but he's out of place in the photo.
ReplyDeleteIf that photo was taken in Great Britian, the steering wheel on the car is on the wrong side. No?
ReplyDeleteMaybe. I've noticed that digital media, randomly reverses images, a LOT.
DeleteI may be wrong but I think the SP2 is only available in left hand drive.

ReplyDeleteThe Spit, back in the day, was far from being a play toy.
ReplyDeleteThe Spit has RCAF marking just under the canopy.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to sell the Spit to pay for what I would do to the tires on the car
ReplyDeleteIf ya got the "Jing" ya get the "Bling"
ReplyDeleteAnd one must ponder, owning those two, why in hell you'd ever come home...?

ReplyDeleteCayce, is that you?
