And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I’ve always heard those vertical wires called stays. Also, the bottom wire should be smooth because that lets your dogs squeeze under the wire when herding animals. I had a friend who used to say that he saw antelope going under the bottom wire rather than jumping the fence like deer and elk do.
Yep---they're stays. The critters shown appear to be muleys- they usually jump a bobwahr fence; have seen 'em go under too. Antilocarpus americana (pronghorn) rarely jump-what seems to be their knee is really an ankle-so they go under.
A well-maintained fence.
ReplyDeleteBonus points for those that know what those vertical wires between the t-posts are called.

DeleteYou're not just another pretty face, Rob.
DeleteI didn't know that about antelope, but it doesn't surprise me.
Major price for failure.
