And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Everything is traditional except that one guy who built the black house in the back.
I have different taste and ideas, live in a free country and can afford to build what I like.
If you don't like it you can move into The Villages (or any other HOA driven community). Every house looks the same, HOAs tell you what colors, shrubs and Xmas decorations are allowed (and when). They also tell you if you can park your own car on your driveway (some don't allow trucks). Nevermind parking a boat or RV in the premises.
Ah yes… they want to move into a neighborhood and want to build their “dream home” or “forever home”. Upset all the neighbors with the design and the construction is a local nightmare. Then they end up selling the house within five years and moving on.
Most of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces were built between 1900 and 1960. At that time most people were building very traditional looking houses. I can guarantee that his neighbours we not happy at the time and yet we see them as transformative and groundbreaking today.
Ralphie: Keep your HOA and let people be creative on their own land and dime. Not your business.
I've seen this before. Pick any quaint little seaside village near a metropolitan area. It'll be traditional charming homes, many of them very old. And then there's that one couple who can't help themselves, but are convinced to their shoes it's saving the neighborhood.
That's the idiot city guy who tore down the old house and put up that monstrosity. The sad part of it, is that he doesn't actually live there and only comes up one or two times a year for a week or two at a time.
Dunno, but if you want to seen an equally bad one, try Racine right next to the old Johnson homestead. Some dolt built a glass box on the shore of Lake Michigan in the middle of the historic district. Butt ugly. Right next to a bunch of Tudor, Italianate, Craftsman houses from the 1850s -1920s. Good thing about it is that Racine is a basket case, so it's probably unsaleable.
The unfortunate part is that one of his friends will come there and try to outdo him with a more unseemly monstrosity on the opposite side of the island
This guy owns the land, pays taxes for it and paid for the house too. It is all his and he is free to do with it what he wants.
Fuck your feelings, opinions, likes and dislikes!
What is next? Are we going to tell people how to dress, what car to drive and how to style their hair? I thought this was a group that valued freedom and self expression!
Yeah, yeah! You're onto sumthin here. We could tell people where to work, where to live, what to drive, what to think and best of all, who to voat for!!
I've Money! I'm somebody special and better than anybody else!

DeleteThat's a lot of glass, for a rocky island.
DeleteI’d say torch it, but then you would probably take the entire rock with you…

ReplyDeleteWhoever is gonna question; "Black is Beautiful" has to answer to Rev. Al Sharpton.
ReplyDeleteEasy to spot the neighborhood A-Hole's place ,LOL
ReplyDeleteAt the extreme left is a non-traditional ranch-type house. Don't hear any griping about that.
ReplyDeleteThat one's almost as ugly, but it blends in better.
DeleteI like the traditional designs. They can vary some.
ReplyDeleteI like that little patio in the foreground.
ReplyDeleteThat patio has a stove!
DeleteY'know, glass is pretty shock sensitive.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Bing this is the archipelago Lofoten Norway.

DeleteYou're absolutely right. Tastelessness should be defended.
DeleteThe moment tastelessness is not protected MAGA is done! Do i need to mention the golden toilet, every MAGA shirt ever and Trump's glorious combover?
DeleteYes.
DeleteGlass house residents are either lacking Vitamin D or like people watching them throw that D. Some will get it.
ReplyDeleteAdapt, or stay the fuck out!
