  3. Ron Howard was actually 18 when this was taken. Williams was 25, passing for 18 in the movie. Nixon was president, and we were still fighting in Vietnam.

    Howard is now 70, and Cindy Williams is now dead.

  4. Ron Howard went to Burbank High School and graduated, I believe, in 1972. He played some basketball on the B Team; I don't think he was quite good enough for varsity.

    1. I need to correct my statement above. Ron Howard went to the *other* high school in Burbank, John Burroughs High. I never played basketball against him, but I remember seeing him play.

  5. Interesting persona. I actually liked him best as Opie and thought his rise from actor to director was very well deserved. Appeared to be a common sense person. But what do I know, I quit going to the theater a couple of decades ago.
