Saturn is closer than you think

  1. Occultations like that are fun to watch with a telescope. Nothing quite like watching Saturn slowly become visible as the moon moves out of the way from your own backyard. Or Mars or Jupiter or whatever happens to be getting blocked by the moon.

    Doesn't have to be a big telescope. This looks like it was shot with a low power, wide angle view.

    1. The first time I saw Saturn through a telescope I was totally blown away even tho it was pretty small in 4" reflector. Remember it 35 years later like it was yesterday. Same with first time looking at moon and the Pleiades.
