And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Update on Matthew
I know two people at Palm Beach, both on the water, and both as of yesterday were not planning to evacuate. On guy is 84 years old. Egads!
Some places are better able to ride out this sort of blow than others. One thing is certain. If you live in Florida, you need to get used to hurricanes sweeping through every so often.

ReplyDeleteAt 84 I guess the guy figures...."when your number's up, it's up". Hell, he could die in a wreck trying to evacuate.
