Department of Homeland Security Is Now Taking Bids to Build the Border Wall.

When Donald Trump told an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference Friday that construction on a border wall was moving quickly, he wasn’t kidding. Just minutes after Trump left the stage in National Harbor, Maryland, the Department of Homeland Security posted a call for bids to “build the wall.”

According to documents obtained by TMZ, DHS is now accepting applications and proposals from anyone who is interested in leading the project.

A law that’s been successfully used only once until now is the conduit for a whole lot of action on Capitol Hill.

Republicans in Congress are expected to send a stream of bills — most of which require a single sentence — to President Donald Trump’s desk, using a process known as the Congressional Review Act to repeal agency rules. The act was tucked into 1996 legislation tied to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s famous “Contract with America.”

“We’re directly attacking the over-regulation issue, thanks to the Congressional Review Act, and plan to take as many of these job-killing regulations off the books as possible,” McConnell said. Earlier this month, the Kentucky Republican pointed to “nearly 40” major rules put out by the Obama administration “on its way out the door” that he said Congress could work with Trump to undo.

Mrs. CW and I are watching "Shetland" on Amazon, a British crime thriller series set in a far northern/norse patch of islands in the UK. Everyone talks like Rose there, and the wife and I are frequently befuddled by their odd lingo. Mrs. CW keeps saying, "Why don't they speak English?"

Compare and contrast

That video of the unusual spillway at Lake Berryessa I posted has been mentioned all over the internet. Someone sent me this shot of the famous entrance to the spillway, which we will call a "Glorie Whole" here, to avoid the algorithms for the ad windows to the right from seeing something different and then automatically trying to sell items that are inappropriate to a family blog (heh).

Anyway, here's the entrance to the "whole" dry and wet ( I know, dangerous to use those words!). Don't fall in!
