And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Yes, the 70s were awesome with good teams developing improved car technology and awesome drivers to take advantage of those new cars. You had Stewart, Lauda, Hunt, Ickx, and many other drivers who were all very exciting. The 60s were also awesome with cars that were much more rudimentary and drivers who were fully capable of commanding the car to do what they needed to: Clark, Brabham, Surtees, Hill, and McLaren. The 80s, for me, were kind of a last gasp for real drivers such as Senna, Lauda, Prost, and Piquet, all of whom exhibited brilliance with occasional segues into being total a-holes. Really a mixed bag. After that, and maybe because of that, I really lost enthusiasm for F1. I only follow it now out of habit.
The years in the 1970s were the glory days of real racing.

Bruce only made it to 1970. Not quite the ‘70’s. I do agree that the ‘70’s were the halcyon years of F1. Great cars, innovation and drivers.
DeleteEven the cars "sounded" better.
DeleteHe was a great driver.
