And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I remember Tower Records in Sacramento - back in the day.
The last Tower Records I shopped in was on the Sunset Strip. I reckon that it’s been 45+ years. It was a huge store. One time that I went on a new music Tuesday. It was a bit of a madhouse.
Dallas, TX on Lemon Ave. The rise of Internet shopping has ruined the hunt. You know, the hunt, when after work or on weekends, maybe on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when new releases hit, and you'd head to the local record store, start flipping thru titles, finding what you're looking for or discovering something cool & completely new to you. And while you can learn about a new band and download their entire discography in the next 10 minutes off the Internet, that old joy of the hunt is gone now.
Last Tower Records that I was in was located in Tysons Corner VA, right before they closed all the stores.
ReplyDeleteStill doing business in Japan.
ReplyDeleteWow what a shop.
ReplyDeleteFreeze frame that moment, travel to today, unfreeze, lot of high value vintage records.
ReplyDeleteFor me it was Tower Records in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania
ReplyDeleteDowntown Chico. Right next door to LaSals.
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco, near Ghirardelli Square.
ReplyDeleteI wanted some of those huge custom painted album covers they used to decorate the outside of the store/parking area
DeleteHouston, TX in the Montrose area
ReplyDeleteQuite the flashback. 52 years since I was in the Sacramento store.
