And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Of all the tourist sites I've been to in Italy Pompeii was the most fascinating. Our tour guide was an elderly Italian man who spoke very good English. He declared that he ancient Romans were very different from us moderns for health, food and morality and he was too old to BS us or hide ore ignore the weirdness.
So we got straight up explanations of things like food we would find utterly disgusting to whores plying their trade standing up in the street in public while chatting with their customer and interested bystanders.
