Beginning in early October, Lanark County which is just West of Ottawa, puts up banners on the utility poles in its towns and villages to remember local residents who have served in the armed forces. Perth has an excellent collection of these and a couple of years ago, I saw this one for Herbert Taylor Reade, Victoria Cross. We were in Perth ten days ago and it has been put up again. One short block has five family members who served in World War 2.
Thanks, Steve!

DeleteThe "Indian Rebellion" may be viewed by the "woke" weenies as white men stealing native lands and killing innocent bystanders.
ReplyDeleteHi John, in this case it was the Rebellion in India! Reade has his own Wikipedia page which details his actions. Steve_in_Ottawa

Boomer wrath will soon follow.

DeleteSorry Steve, but Wikipedia is the LAST place I go for historical information... or ANY information for that matter. Too much misinfo when there are far better places to find truth.
DeleteIt's not all disinfo, but it gets to the point where you can't tell truth from lies on there.
Kinda like the Canadian Liberal larty and it"s fawning media.
Other than that. Nice post a d good to see the Ottawa area again. It's been many years.
