And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Children take part in the process of drying large Salmon catches, a Nivkh community in Kamchatka, Russia
Makes me think about two sisters who grew up on a homestead on an inlet of an island in the Aleutians, daughters of two sorta hippie types but who actually had talent and capabilities, in very rustic conditions, supplying fishing vessels and hauling supplies for people on neighboring islands. The book they wrote is called, "The Salmon Sisters." Full of stories of their amazing lives as kids and young adults going to parties on a dozen fishing boats lagered up in the inlet; processing salmon on the beach guarding against crows, seagulls, foxes, and grizzly bears; doing the 2-days out and 2 back supply runs; and living lives many of us would like to experience. And the book is full of recipes. (Might make a good Amazon link, Boss, hint, hint...)
You are three kids, you have 10 salmon, you live in Soviet Russia, the government sends you letter they are taking 20 of your fish, you say you only have 10. Commie-saar comes, takes 10 fish, arrests you for not meeting economic goals of 5-year Plan.
